Biography

Dr. Janez Toplišek is a distinguished cardiologist and assistant at the University Medical Centre Ljubljana, specializing in internal medicine, cardiology, and vascular medicine. He completed his studies at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Ljubljana in 1996 and became a specialist in internal medicine in 2002. In 2013, he became a specialist in cardiology and vascular medicine. He continues his scientific and professional development all over the world with training in stress echocardiography (Pisa, Italy), European accreditation of transthoracic and transesophageal echocardiography, training in the field of diagnostics and treatment of pulmonary hypertension, treatment of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, and cardiopulmonary stress testing in Europe and the United States. He received his PhD in 2017. With over 27 publications and 77 citations, he is a leading figure in Slovenia’s cardiology community, focusing on advanced cardiac imaging and diagnostics for conditions such as hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM). Dr. Toplišek serves as the main mentor for cardiology specialization at the University of Ljubljana’s Medical Faculty and collaborates with MD Medicina and Diagnostic Center Bled for preventive cardiac care. His expertise in echocardiographic techniques and oHCM diagnostics enhances early detection and patient outcomes, making him a pivotal voice in Slovenia’s cardiovascular landscape. Dr. Toplišek’s dedication to mentorship and research drives innovation in oHCM management.
